Poor communication and bottlenecks causing business headaches
Businesses face a range of challenges when it comes to running their internal processes effectively, according to a recent survey from CompTIA.
The organization tracked the difficulties that companies have in their workflow and which they are using online tools to overcome. The most common issue businesses are facing is bottlenecks within the organization. Among these respondents, 48 per cent pointed to this as a serious impediment to growth.
Other common concerns that business leaders pointed to were the duplication of work within a company (46 per cent) and poor interactions between departments (39 per cent). A lack of business process visibility was also a concern for 27 per cent of respondents.
The solution which many businesses are now turning to is business management software that can take these processes and spread them within an organization. This is giving companies a greater degree of control over their operations as well as saving time.
Seth Robinson, director of technology analysis at CompTIA, pointed to the value that companies can achieve by investing in this technology.
“Technology and trends that generate additional revenue or new business tend to draw the most attention, but improvements to internal operations that reduce costs also contribute to the profitability equation,” said Mr Robinson.
Among the most common tools that companies are using to automate their business processes, cloud computing came out on top, with 65 per cent of respondents pointing to this development. Other common techniques for improving these processes included mobile technology (51 per cent) and data and analytics (45 per cent).
“As businesses become more familiar with these concepts and others, they’ll continue building automation into their processes and drive focus and energy back into business objectives and innovation,” stated Mr Robinson.
“While it may be too complicated to pursue a strategy that addresses all needs, starting with the most significant issues and planning for the future is a smart approach.”
